Honors autonomy and calls out Myanmar regime.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement in support of Burma as that nation celebrated independence from Britain on January 4. The State Department published the secretary honoring the day and supporting the people of Burma, whose country experienced a military coup d’etat in February of 2021.
“The United States remains committed to the people of Burma, who will not give up hope for a better future, even as they suffer horrific abuses by the regime,” Secretary Blinken said. “We reiterate our call for the military regime to cease immediately the use of violence, release all those unjustly detained, and return Burma’s path to a genuine and inclusive democracy.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Blinken as he uses his diplomatic position to speak on behalf of the United States.
- That the commitment of the president’s administration to global balance would prove fruitful.
- That the Lord would protect the people in Burma as they endure under military regime.
